Frequently Asked Questions

A few honest answers to the questions I'm asked most. If yours isn't here, get in touch and I'll answer it myself. — Mazhar

Are MHB Essence perfumes original or fake?

Neither word quite fits. Nothing I sell is a counterfeit pretending to be a designer bottle — I would never put another brand's name on my work. What I make are honest impressions: my own interpretation of a scent you might recognise, blended from scratch in my workshop. Alongside those, I create originals that are wholly my own and copy no one. So everything here is genuinely made by me — I'm simply open about which scents are inspired by something and which are entirely mine.

What does the "honest 90–96% match" really mean?

When I say a scent is, for example, a 92% impression of another fragrance, that is my honest judgement of how close it smells — not a marketing round-up. I'm telling you how faithfully the opening, the heart and the dry-down follow the original, and where mine drifts a little. No impression is ever a perfect 100%, and I won't pretend otherwise. I'd far rather you knew the real number than felt let down when the bottle arrives.

Is cash on delivery available across Pakistan?

Yes — you can pay cash on delivery anywhere in Pakistan. To confirm a COD order I ask for a small Rs 500 advance token, which simply secures the order and is adjusted against your total. Delivery is a flat Rs 300, and it's free on orders over Rs 5,000.

What is Extrait de Parfum, and how is it different from EDP or EDT?

The difference comes down to how much perfume oil is in the bottle. An Eau de Toilette (EDT) is light, with a small share of oil; an Eau de Parfum (EDP) is richer; and an Extrait de Parfum is the most concentrated of the three. Mine are built at 35% oil, which is why they feel deeper and last far longer than an ordinary spray — so a little goes a long way.

How long do your perfumes last?

Because these are 35% oil Extraits rather than light sprays, they're made to stay with you — on most skin they carry from morning well into the evening, and you'll often still catch them on your clothes the next day. Exact longevity varies with the scent, your skin and the weather, which is honestly true of any fragrance. Two or three sprays is usually plenty.

Why does my perfume smell different right after it arrives?

This is completely normal, and it settles. In transit a fragrance gets shaken about and goes through heat and temperature swings, which can throw the scent off for a little while — perfumers call it travel shock. Let the bottle rest upright in a cool, dark place for a day or two and it returns to itself. If it ever doesn't, write to me and I'll make it right.

Can I try the scents before buying a full bottle?

You don't have to gamble on a full bottle. I offer a build-your-own tester set, so you can sample several scents on your own skin, over a few days, before committing to the ones you love. You can put a set together from the testers collection.

What is your return or exchange policy?

You have 15 days to arrange an exchange, settled as store credit. A bottle that's only been lightly tested — a spray or two — can be exchanged; one that's been heavily used can't. Testers and discounted items aren't returnable, for hygiene reasons. Just reach out with your order details and I'll sort it out personally.

Are your perfumes skin-safe?

I blend with cosmetic-grade perfumer's ethanol imported from Germany and fragrance oils from established houses, so you're getting clean, quality materials rather than anything harsh. That said, every skin is different, and no fragrance can promise it will never irritate. If your skin is sensitive, do a small patch test on your inner arm first — and if anything doesn't agree with you, stop and get in touch.

How are MHB Essence perfumes made?

Every scent is hand-blended by me — one perfumer — from start to finish. I work at 35% oil for true Extrait strength, using oils from houses such as Luzi and Givaudan together with a German perfumer's ethanol, then let each batch macerate for at least a month so it settles and matures before bottling. No shortcuts, no rushing.
